Looking to spend some time exploring the countryside in the all-new 2015 F-150? Now it’s possible to sleep comfortably inside a Ford-branded camper, thanks to recreational vehicle builder Thor Livin Lite.
Thor Livin Lite and Ford have agreed to license Ford-branded recreational products for the all-new 2015 F-150 pickup – the smartest, toughest, most capable F-150 ever.
“I can’t tell you how excited we are to work with a company as prestigious as Ford and bring their iconic brand name back into the RV industry,” said Scott Tuttle, president of Thor Livin Lite. “Ford believes enough in our unique aluminum construction to allow us to carry the ‘Built Ford Tough’ label, which says a lot.”
Teaming with Ford designers
Beginning in 2013, Thor Livin Lite began working with Ford designers to adopt design cues from the aluminum-body F-150 into their aluminum campers.
The 2015 F-150 is up to 700 pounds lighter than the 2014 truck, and Thor Livin Lite campers are typically 30 percent lighter than the competition – this weight-saving combination of unique, aluminum body is designed to improve fuel efficiency for RV customers.
The debut Ford-branded camper model design will appear next month at the National RV Trade Show in Louisville, Kentucky. Thor Livin Lite plans to release other models in time for sale in 2015. The lineup of Ford-branded RVs will include tent campers, travel trailers, truck campers, toy haulers and fifth wheels for sale through Thor Livin Lite dealers.
In the 1970s, Ford had a dedicated RV division with a team of engineers and marketing professionals. Today, Thor Livin Lite licenses Ford trademarks and is fully responsible for designing, engineering and manufacturing Ford-branded recreational products with input from Ford Design.

Lazydays RV Partners With ‘Daytona Turkey Run’


Seffner, Fla.-based Lazydays RV is the presenting partner of the 41st Annual Daytona Turkey Run this weekend.
According to a press release, the Daytona Turkey Run is the largest classic car show and swap meet in the United States. The event will take place in the infield of the Daytona International Speedway on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 27) and runs through Sunday. Nearly 140,000 people are expected to attend and view more than 6,000 classic cars.
“This is a tremendous partnership for us,” said Lazydays General Sales Manager Ron Fleming. “A lot of our customers are also classic car lovers, so this will be the perfect occasion for visitors to enjoy a huge selection of beautiful cars and the opportunity to see some of the top RV brands all in one place.”

Winnebago Motorhomes Receive Motorhome Magazine Readers’ Choice Awards

RV Firms Work to Aid World’s Starving Children


Employees from an array of RV manufacturers, including Forest River Inc., Newmar Corp. and Livin’ Lite along with suppliers such as Patrick Industries Inc., Quality Drive Away Inc. and Ascot Enterprises Inc. have been working in shifts this week with thousands of area volunteers — approximately 7,500 total — in the gymnasium of Nappanee Missionary Church to package 2.3 million meals for needy youngsters throughout the world. A total of about 180 employees from Newmar and 450 from several Forest River divisions were among the biggest participants, working in shifts of up to 400 in packaging the dry meals which consist of dehydrated vegetables, soy nuggets, vitamins and rice that can be heated up before serving. 

The meals, six to a plastic bag, are then distributed all over the world through a non-profit Christian organization based in Minneapolis called Feed My Starving Children. “These meals are being put together to help starving children around the world,” said NMC Senior Pastor Dave Enbrecht, adding that a number of companies have also stepped up with related financial donations. “They use embedded partners in other organizations to distribute these meals overseas – whether it’s Thailand, Guatemala, Haiti and a number of other different countries.”
